YP's 2nd Family Visit

100911 will be dearly remembered by Brother Kheng Yeow, Sister Serene, handsome-Hugo and princess Venus and many YPs, family, coaches & supporters.

At the invitation of the Yaps, YPs and their family-in-tow trickled in their door with hands filled with yummy food & goodies. Much of the food were prepared by some YPs themselves!

The idea of "YP's family visit" was mooted by a YP. His intention was through visiting one another's family home, we share and bring love, joy of wishes as we bond and get to know one another better. What a wonderful view and intention ~ from such a tender young mind!

Through makan, small chats, jokes and laughter, much joy was shared. Many of us got to know the Yaps and their family better. Several of us were also inspired by the shrine and garden of love built by Bro Yap himself. Perhaps, we may soon see another meditation corner like such emulated in another's home?

Gathering in the living room, all present (seen and unseen *wink*) prepared our bodies and mind in "anjali". Through one single-pointedness, the words of the Dhamma were shared, sung and chanted ~ thus, spinning the Wheel of the Noble Eightfold Path right in the centre of homely Yap's abode. With right views (understanding), intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness and concentration, another sasanarakhha* was established. The glorious grace of everyone in their true spirits and hearts of peace, kindness and happiness illuminated the room with so much good energy and brightness of light .... or was it Bro Yap's trick ? (hee... hee ... hee) (pls see photo album)

In the words of Bro Yap on the evening after, "... thank you so much for giving our family such a wonderful chance to invite all of you to our humble and "squeezy" home, there is so much fun, joy and sharing in the house today. Appreciate .. the puja and sharing which is so wonderul that helps to accumulate all the right and positive energy needed for all of us... May the Triple Gem bless and protect you and your family always. Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!"

Dhamma is such a wonderful thing.  To experience the Dhamma in this life is such a blessed thing. The compounded blessing is brought about because we have the support of one and all in the YP family and Buddhist community. Through the support of practice with like-minded practitioners like the Yap family and many of the YPs, families, coaches, friends and supporters, we have all studied, practiced and realised the Dhamma! Sadhu to one and all on this great accomplishment.

As we move on in our lives, let us continue to support one another. Let us remember the people who have sat, walked, stayed, sang, shared, listened, lived and opened their hearts to us through our practice as Buddhists and how we have benefitted. They have all helped us to be a better person. So why not, start now, with ourselves, open our senses and hearts to another being and offer our hand, the nudge & comfort of touch, and the inspiration to feel and experience the Dhamma? Bring them to our next Family Visit in October!

May all the merits that we at YP have accrued through this meritorious deed be shared and transferred to all sentient beings. May all be well and happy.

Thank you Bro Kheng Yeow, Sis Serene, YP Hugo and YP Venus for opening your hearts to us ~ You Have Shown Us the Right Way!
Sadhu sadhu sadhu!

*Sasanarakkha [Guardian of the Sasana] is a compound formed from the Pali words sasana and arakkha . For Theravada Buddhists, Sasana is an abbreviation of Buddhasasana [the Buddha's Teaching], which is basically three-fold: to study, practise and realise the Dhammavinaya. Arakkha means guardian or protector.

In Solitude

Hey Champ,
I eventually get to spend a day at Pulau Ubin. The cycling trip from home to Changi ferry terminal was a happy one. Fellow cyclists on their morning routine crossed path, we made eye contact and greeted each other with a gentle smile. People may not know each other but there is always the joy of being with people of similar interests.

Pulau Ubin is a beautiful place. The rustic charm is hard to find in Singapore. The island is home to no more than 50 families and down town Ubin is a cluster consist of one sundry shop, a few coffee shops cum restaurants and a few bicycle rental shops. It was a weekday so there were not many visitors. It is a good place to be alone, to feel the peace and tranquility. Alone is a choice, lonely is a desire. It is in solitude that we connect with nature and be in contemplation. It is a joy listening to the symphony of the wild and be in the company of an amazing variety of wild lives that come out to play when there is stillness. I want to go back to Ubin, this time to camp overnight, be in the joy of solitude.

Have a safe week in camp. We will catch up the week after next. NS is a responsibility and a burden. You are carrying this burden to ensure our home and our lifestyle is protected. Champ, on behalf of mum and the two sisters, we thank you for shouldering this responsibility.

May you be safe, may you be well, may you be happy.
Dad.

A gripping story of a man, whose loss of his wife brings him to a stand point in life. Unable to cope, or to tell his young daughter about her mom's death the man refuses to go to the wake. However, an unlikely friend shows him a differnt path in experiencing whats known to be true and certain in his life, by diving into his own imagination. Facing Disappointments...

Have you ever been disappointed?Whether it is results or the inability to achieve your dream,we tend to feel disappointed and angry and blame others for it.I've just been disappointed.I wanted to go to School Of The Arts(SOTA).However,my cohort is full and thus I can't apply. But I will continue to work hard,I will continue training hard and all I need is a bit of luck before I can go into my dream school.Work hard for your dreams...That's all...
Disappointments are necessary. They tend to show you what you can and cannot do.But even then, continue working hard...That is all.I don't feel like writing anymore...

Nainai 4

The suffering continues but misery need not be. Within the suffering there is learning, joy and love.

Nainai has decided that enough is enough. She said that she knows her own body well and has decided not to seek further treatment. HOPE and CURE must now be replaced with just CARE. We discussed Nainai’s decision with the specialist doctor and he agrees with her decision. We are all in the same wavelength now.

The care consists of two parts, her body and her mind.
She is now taking medications to ease the discomfort for a better quality of life. There is this medication that makes her partially failed heart function better but will eventually cause severe damage to it. Death will come relatively painlessly and quickly, within a month reckon the doctor. Because of the medication she is relatively strong and alert at the moment.

Nainai sleeps most of the time but when awake she continues to have fun. She cracks jokes; make fun of the two GuGus who put in the most effort caring for her. Haha, she was game enough to do some exercise yesterday morning using her good arm and later her swollen arm. Upon seeing this I cheered her on, she gave me a wide smile and did a boogie-woogie with both arms.
While taking her blood pressure, we would play doctor and patient.

Nainai needs your support now; the two GuGus need your support now.
Treasure this remaining month, treasure every moment. Tomorrow may never be.

The suffering continues but misery need not be. Within the suffering there is learning, joy and love.

Till death do us part...

We often fall in love.Sometimes recklessly, sometimes slowly.Sometimes with total strangers, sometimes with our best friends.But...Love.Is something that can't be held back.Like the moon from waning and waxing.Like the stars from shining.
We're all still young.Treasure those that you love right now.Whether its your parents or just simply your crush, treasure them because they might just disappear. No matter how well you knew them before Love started. For within a day,a hour,a minute,a second. That person might as well have never existed...
