The Pictures

A picture tells a thousand words. We thank Sister Irene and team for the good effort in taking and publishing them. In the pictures, we see the young and the not so young. Interacting with the young makes me recall my own youth. It is as if yesterday that I was 13, fantasizing the idea of becoming a pilot, playing a clumsy game of basketball and eyeing the beautiful girl next door feeling the heart throbbing away.

In the pictures we see giving and receiving, we see suffering and joy, we see pain and compassion. We read articles about Nainai’s final journey and we see impermanence.

I would like to share a story that I read earlier. A 13 year old son wanted to go fishing with his buddies in the morning but the mother, fearing for his safety, objected because of the bad weather. A heated argument endured, words that should not have been said were used. The son left for the fishing trip anyway. The mother was right, the son never return. He had a good fishing trip but on the way home was tragically killed in a road accident. In his bag, they found a card. The card reads, MUM, I LOVE YOU, and PLEASE FORGIVE MY HARSH WORDS…
BE KIND NOW.
BE GENTLE NOW.
BE HAPPY NOW.
FOR TOMORROW MAY NEVER BE.

Metta,
